New York’s Chris Van Leo makes it fun to dance to a 12 string guitar again with this track from his latest project, Vague Angels.

London’s Lonelady brings the uncertain, quirky hero-character back to pop music. Sure, we all love that thing Gaga’s got going on but her actual music, catchy ear candy that it is, leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to actually satisfying a thirst for good music. Not so with ‘lady’s Julie Campbell. Her moody songcraft propped up with arty dance beats comes off as if P.J. Harvey finally put out that disco record you’ve always wanted her to make.

The UK’s Ebony Bones! is kinda like MIA’s music on steroids cum Lady Gaga’s fashion weirdness.  This track, “Warrior” could use a bit slicker of a producer at the helm but the tune owns the basic cathchyness required for mass appeal.

Here’s a quick track from Melbourne’s Andras Fox. While most of his stuff is on the better side of instrumental trip-hop, “Tell You” sounds like it could be the cornerstone of a memorable summertime hit for some Jay-Z protege.

You can download all of Fox’s tracks at his Fairtilizer page. Try getting prepared for the pursuit of summer love/lust with his 30min long Summertime Loving Mixtape.

They’ve leaked a version of “Cherry Bomb” featuring Dakota Fanning singing lead. I felt weird listening to that. That’s why I’m glad You Tube has a video of the real Runaways doing this so I can listen to the song and not feel weird. Actually, they have a few versions on the old You Tube. Check ‘em out.

Note: While I do believe that Joan Jett is the most badass, I must defer to my male urges and declare Cherie Currie my favorite Runaway. She is so ‘I wanna die’ sexy that I just wanna die.

I love the new Brian Jonestown Massacre record, Who Killed Sgt. Pepper? Anton is really keeping things interesting with this new incarnation of the band. Glad to see he’s not just putting crap out there as an excuse to go on tour.

Mayer Hawthorne calls his back-up group The County. He grew up in Michigan. His song “When I Said Goodbye” features in the Kanye West/Spike Jonze short film We Were Once A Fairytale. This is a different song by him. Dig.

“Peru Peru is an island surrended (sic) by cedar trees. There live two ladies. One’s got a cat named Circé. The other wears a kate Bush dress. At sundown, secret peruvians go down the hills. If you open up you heart, you may hear them singing a song to thee.

“Spookin’ The Horse” by Thomas Weber’s Kammerflimmer Kollektief is perfect for all of us who’ve been waiting for Mazzy Star to come back all Germanish.

French singer Soko will fit right in on the soundtrack for Juno 2. Regardless, there is something about her love/anti-love song “I Will Never Love You More…” that is fairly irresistible. I mean, will you ever really love another person more than you love singing in the shower?
